'Tis the Season

We are getting so excited about Christmas! Makaylee is old enough this year to actually understand it a little bit. We had her picture taken with Santa at the mall. At the time she wasn't too thrilled about it, but we managed to get a weak smile out of her. But everytime she sees the picture of her and Santa on the fridge she says "No Santa, No like a Santa!" Every day she sees it she says it more emphatically! I'm afraid I will have to take the picture down in a few days because she may have a full-out tantrum! (Today in the car "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" came on the radio, and that also set her into a fit.)

Well, here is the newest picture of our house, it's amazing that hardly anything has been done on it in a month! We are getting pretty ornery about it around here when anyone asks about it!! Some day, we may acutally live here, right now it is hard to believe. . . .

The framing is almost done!

When I went and looked at our house today they had framed the walk-in closet wrong. I am afraid that fixing it may set them back a day or two. But if all goes well, it should be framed by Thanksgiving!

Halloween

This post is a few weeks late, but I thought I would post some Halloween pictures. Makaylee was a fairy princess (I thought she should be something girly this year, because last year she was a pumpkin.) There are also a few pictures with her cute cousins in costumes.

Our house is starting to be framed, I will post some pictures of that soon. It is so exciting to be able to actually walk through the house instead of just going to our lot and looking at it!

Foundation!

Terribly funny two's

I'm afraid Makaylee has hit her terrible 2's, the problem is that she is 6 months early! Honestly, this child is driving me nuts! Actually, she is hilarious, I can't help but laugh when she stomps her little feet, and then almost falls over because she is not yet coordinated enough to be that mad! I taught her how to sign "please" in sign language (you rub your heart). So when ever she is having a tantrum I tell her that she needs to say please, and she stops screaming and rubs her belly and smiles, looking so pround of herself for "mastering" that sign. She is just so dang cute! When she is really mad at me, she yells at me in this baby garble (that only she understands thank heavens) and gets the most serious look on her face, like she is really telling me off. My mom said I did the same thing when I was her age. I guess it's my payback.

Her new favorite game is naming body parts. She hops up on my lap with her face about 6 inches from mine and randomly pokes at my mouth, ears, eyes, nose, chin ect. Saying each name as she does this. You have to be on your guard because the random eye pokes are a bit dangerous. And my least favorite combination is when she pokes her finger in my mouth, and then my ear, successfully giving me a wet willey!

I just got a call from one of my old neighbors. She wanted to know where we were building because they are going to try and buy a home in the same neighborhood! I was so excited, that would be so fun to already have some friends near our new house.

We had the foundation poured on Monday! It 's really exciting now that there is progress every thime we go out and look at our house! My brothers house however, (it was started when ours was) already has the framing completed, and they are going to be in theirs by Christmas. . . sigh. . .

Finally, some progress!

We finally recieved our building permit last week! I went out to check our lot today and I finally saw some progress. We have footings! We should have the foundation in another week, and after that your guess is as good as mine!

(It may not look like much, but big things are going to start happening soon, just you wait.)

We went to St. George this weekend with my whole family (Kimballs.) A friend of my dad's let us use their vacation home. We had so much fun. Their vacation home was so nice, it has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, so each family got their own room. We all went to the outlet mall, sat in the hot tub, and ate at Cafe Rio, but the funnest part was sitting around the family room just telling stories and laughing.

Congratulations to Eric and Heather who blessed their twin baby girls Abigayle and Kayleigh last week! They looked so precious in their little white gowns. We'll have to remember how innocent they were, for when they get into trouble up to their armpits, with Makaylee joining in on the fun!!!

Can We Please have our PERMIT!!!

Well, I guess we just need to accept it. We will be living in my parents basement forever! Forget worrying if we'll be here for Christmas, forget thinking that we may be out by New Years eve! Our builder has been fighting with the city of Riverton over our permit for a few weeks. The city wanted our electrical system to have more amps and our builder didn't want to put forward more money to do that. So either we would have to pay for the upgraded system, or the city of Riverton would have to fold. Luckily our builders electrical engineer submitted a letter testifying to the fact that our electrical system would be sufficient, and the city gave in. So why do we still have no permit???!!! "We should have it within 1-2 business days" I have been hearing that for almost 5 weeks! This is getting so frustrating!

My sisters baby, Lanie, came down with a serious infection after her hip surgery. Luckily my sister caught it really early or it could have been a lot worse. She had to go into surgery again and have her incision opened up and cleaned out. They recasted her and inserted a PICC line (a long term IV that has a catheter that extends right to her heart) and sent her home with IV antibiotics that my sister has to administer every 8 hours for two weeks. I told my sister that if she ever wants to be a nurse, she would be way ahead of the game! Lanie is doing as good as can be expected. Although a body cast, and a bad case of the runs (caused by the anitbiotics) are not a good combination to say the least. (my poor sister!)

Did I mention before that Terry got the much anticipated Customer Service Supervisor position? He is really excited to move up at Magellan. They have treated him really good there, and it's nice to keep his seniority and the benefits that go along with it! I quit doing the PRN Home Health visits that I was doing on the weekends. The schedule was always too up in the air, and it was taking too much time away from my family. . .

They've Broken Ground!

Good news! We went out to look at our little plot of land, and there was a big hole in it! Yeah! They've broken ground! We should have the permit in a few days, and after that it is supposed to be finished in 90 days! So that puts us at about ohhh. . . December 20th or so! What a great Chirstmas present (and what a horrible moving season!) We are going to have to do some serious bribing if we expect anyone to help us move that close to Christmas!

Our sweet little neice Elaina had hip surgery on Tuesday. It went really well! What a blessing! She is already back home and adjusting to being in practically a full body cast! She is the sweetest baby. I can't imagine what Makaylee would have been like if she had to go through that. I think all the neighboors would have moved out with all the crying and screaming that would have been going on!

Makaylee has suddenly sprouted manners this week. She was playing in the bathtub and I sneezed really loud, she looked at me all curious like and said "Bless you!" as clear as a bell! I started laughing so hard because it was just so unexpected and so appropriate, you just wouldn't expect a 17 month old to say that! She got such a good laugh out of me that now when anyone sneezes, or coughs, or makes any other strange noise she says "Bless you!" really loud with a huge grin on her face!

Our Story Begins

Hi,

Well, I don't even know where to start! My friend Christen sent me a link to her blog and I fell in love with it! How cool that you can keep up on other people lives just by opening a web page! I hope you like the title of our blogger, Terry helped me think of it, looking all proud to be using his Spanish skills!

Let me just update you on our whereabouts these days. We are living in my parents basement! It consists of a family room, a bedroom and a bathroom. Guess who gets the bed room? Makaylee of course! ha ha ha! So that leaves Terry and I sleeping in the open family room, (without a door for privacy!) It actually hasn't been too bad, other than the fact that we have to creep into her room after she's asleep to sneak in a shower (or haul all of our toiletries upstairs the night before we intend to shower) so we don't wake her up unnecessarily early and have an unnecessary bad day because of it.

My mom asked me how we were handling living in the basement, I told her we were doing fine. She said "Well, I fear it's like being on vacation, where the first few days are great, but by the end of it you just can't wait to get home!" (I secretly wondered if that comment was promted by her own feelings!) But we are still doing fine and it has been over a month. Mom and I trade off cooking every other week, I think we are both really going to miss that! Although her week for cooking always goes by much faster than my week, it is so nice to get the break!

The bad news is that our house (being built in Riverton) is almost a month behind schedule, they haven't even started digging the hole yet!!! So I guess we better get used to being all close and cozy in the basement, because we will be here for a while!

Makaylee is just so darn cute these days. She is running around every where and talking her little head off. I started writing down all the words she says, but I can't keep up with her, I think she says about 100 words by now! (Not all of them recognizable to the lay mans ear.) My favorite are "Ba-ka" for grandpa, and "oust" for outside. . . .

p.s. Happy 3rd B-day to our cute nephew Chase!
