In Case You Noticed...

I have a lot going on in my life right now, and I have been neglecting one of my loves. . . blogging!  Forgive me!  I am going to do better, I swear!  But, just for excuses sake, I'd like to explain just how busy we've been.  Terrill and I started to seriously consider moving, and started putting bids on short sales and forclosures--which was really time consuming, and did not work out in the long run.  I was also asked to be a Supervisor at work at about that same time, and shortly thereafter I was called to be the Primary President in my Ward.  I have also become a Nurse Educator, and the trainings have increased my working hours a bit.  And, just because we wanted to see if we could handle any more stress we have decided to build a custom house--which feels like another full time job!  It is acutally really exciting and fun, though.  And now that the cat is out of the bag, I will be posting more about designing and building our home soon!

Daddy/ Daughter Dance

Our Ward put on a Daddy/ Daughter Dance.  Makaylee and Aleeya were so excited to get dressed up and go dance with their handsome Daddy.  They danced, had some treats, danced some more, and had a great time.  Aleeya was sweaty and exhausted when they got home because she had danced her little heart out!  It was a fun night they won't forget any time soon!

Happy New Year! 2012

What could be better than a family New Year's Eve bash with some X-box Kinect games, Cafe Rio, and Sparkling Cider?  We stayed up late playing dancing games and laughing at each other.  I can't help but think this year has the makings to be great!

Broken Arm. . .

 I was at work and got a somewhat frantic call from Terrill.  I could hear Ro crying hard in the background, and I could tell he was really hurting.  He had fallen off the couch all wrong and bent his elbow backward.  (Yes, the 2-foot-tall-at-the most leather couch!)   I took off from work and met them at the instacare.  My little man was trying to be so brave, but it hurt so badly that he just curled up in my arms and cried, and cried.   He had fractured the big upper bone in his left arm (the Humerus.)  After some really good medicine and a really cool cast he started to settle down. 

He hasn't complained about it itching, like I was a afraid of (because of his eczema.)  Now that it's healing, he doesn't mind showing of the awesome green camo-ness of it.  He also seems to like the fact that if Makaylee is bugging him too much, it double as a club that he "accidentally" whacks her with.  He is set to get it off right before Christmas, a pretty good Christmas present if you ask me!

Halloween 2011

 Halloween this year was so much fun.  Our Ward did a Fall Festival that the Primary was in charge of. (That would be me:)  I was a little frustrated with the timing because we had just finished the Primary Program a few weeks prior, and I was still decompressing from that.  But, it ended up being such a great party, I felt guilty that I started off with a bad attitude! 

Makaylee was a cute pink witch this year.  Aleeya and Rowen were so adorable in Cowboy/ Cowgirl outfits!  Aleeya's (borrowed) cowgirl boots got a lot of attention!   Aleeya figured out he whole trick-or-treating thing so fast!  She was so funny, she would go up to the door and say "Trick or Treat"  and then she would ALWAYS yell "Thankyou!"  The kids trick or treated with Terrill for such a LONG time, I was starting to get worried.  But, apparently it was Aleeya that was not ready to come home!  She asked to go trick or treat for days afterwards!

 

My parents Annual Halloween Party was such a blast!  It is my favorite thing about Halloween. 

Apparently I got a little carried away with my costume this year (in comparison to the other adults, anyway.)  Jeni kept teasing my by singing "One of these things is not like the other!"

Homestead & The Heber Valley Railroad

This Halloween we went on the Heber Valley Railroad "Pumpkin Patch" train.  It (very slowly) took us on a scenic ride to a "pumpkin patch" where we each got to choose a pumpkin to decorate.  We were served cookies and hot chocolate, and the kids acted almost as excited as if we were on a Disneyland ride (which is a good thing, since it almost cost as much as a Disneyland ride!)  After the ride we went to the Homestead and stayed the night in our favorite "Bunk House."  The kids LOVE Homestead, and I love the simplicity and beauty of it, too.  I have a feeling this may be a tradition in the making.

Back to School Fashion Show

Do you know what my favorite thing about the kids going back to school is? School clothes! Kids clothes are just so fun! The last few years we have done a little "Back to School Fashion Show." I don't know how much longer they will play along, but it sure is fun!

I got Aleeya a few outfits because I didn't want her to feel left out. She totally played along, but I am not sure if she had any fun doing it!

Extreme Makeover: Makaylee's Room

I loved Makaylee's room when I first painted it almost 5 years ago-- even though at the time Terrill said "It kind of looks like a circus." But alas, she is 7 now, and I decided it was time to give her a more grown-up room.

New York, New York!

For our 10th anniversary, Terrill and I celebrated in New York City!  My Mom watched the kids for us for almost a week, and we had such a memorable time! 

Some of the highlights of our trip were:  

Going to Spider-man Turn Off the Dark on Broadway.  (It was a breathtaking show, FANTASTIC!)  After the show we walked Time Square for hours.  You have to see this place in person for the full impact!

 

Exploring Central Park was so much fun!

 The architecture was unbelievable and left us feeling so tiny!

 

The Museums were so cool!  I could have spent a TON of more time there, but it wasn't really Terrill's favorite thing.  (My fav was the MoMA, Terrill's was the Guggenheim.)

Our favorite places to eat were Carnegie Deli, and anything we tried in Little Italy

It was so fun to feel like honeymooners all over again!  Without the kids we were able to wake up when we wanted, and go to bed whenever we pleased.  We walked for hours everyday, and no one complained.  We hopped on and off of Subway trains without having to frantically do child head counts.  We got to eat in fancy restaurants without worrying about embarrassing tantrums.  But, by the end, I missed my kiddos terribly!   I'd love to come back with them in a few years!
